I was helping my dad make some acrylic display dispensers at his shop.
I was cleaning, and he was using a torch to refine them. I was watching him, and it was so amazing to watch him expose the flame to the acrylic because as soon as he did it became so shiny and clear. We were talking and then all the sudden he says, “It’s crazy how someone came up with putting a flame to this to make it look so much better; It’s just so weird.”
Actually it’s pretty ridiculous. I mean, someone just randomly put a flame to the acrylic to see what it would do? How the acrylic would react? It’s kind of silly.
Just like God uses the “silly” things of this world to teach the wise. He uses those things to break us, so he can build us back up; He can build us the right way, the way we were supposed to be in the beginning.
Then after he has cleaned us all up and gotten rid of the big stains (like I was doing to the acrylic), He can take the flame and refine us (like my dad was doing). It was crazy how the flame could take away the little imperfections that were still left, and make it so much better and purer than it was before.
The difference between the acrylic and us though, is that the acrylic eventually becomes a finished product. We don’t. God is so amazing that he can keep refining us until the day we die.
So, God broke me, he’s rebuilding me, and he’s starting to refine me. I’ve already changed more in these past 6 months than I ever thought necessary, and I’m realizing everything God is up to. It’s pretty cool to say the least :)
